David Elms

David has 10 years banking experience in corporate and leveraged finance, corporate relationship management and operations.  He was most recently an Associate Director in CBA’s Leverage Finance & Private Equity team where he was responsible for the origination and execution of mid-market and large cap growth and event-driven financings across Australia including leveraged buyout and acquisition financings, growth capex funding, recapitalisations and refinancings.

Prior to joining CBA Leverage Finance & Private Equity in April 2017, David was a Relationship Executive in HSBC’s Large Corporate team in Sydney (January 2016 – April 2017) where he assisted in the origination, structuring and execution of corporate and leverage finance transactions for clients with USD$400m+ of revenue. In addition, David was responsible for the management and in life servicing of a portfolio of complex and internationally diversified borrowers.

David commenced his career with CBA in Queensland in 2011, spending five years in various roles in Corporate Financial Services (December 2012 – December 2015), Institutional Banking & Markets (2012) and in operational roles while at university (2011 – 2012). During his time in Corporate Financial Services, David worked develop and manage a portfolio of corporate clients in the middle market space encompassing large private and ASX listed companies. He also worked closely with the CBA’s Corporate Finance team managing a portfolio of leveraged and acquisition finance transactions in Queensland.

David has a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and a Bachelor of Economics (Quantitative Methods) degree from the University of Queensland and has passed Level 2 of the CFA Program. David also worked as a university tutor in 2012, teaching second year Economics courses across Econometrics and Financial Institution Management.
